Germany and Italy have traditionally very different approaches to the training of young mathematicians. The Universities of Trento and Tuebingen have a decade of experience in offering to selected students the opportunity to combine the best of the two approaches.
The students enrolled in the Programme will spend one year in each university, collaborating with research groups in both institutions at the frontiers of the current research in pure and applied mathematics. The first year will be mainly devoted to the completion of the general education of the student. During the second year the student will follow advanced courses according to his/her mathematical interests; the last semester will be dedicated to the thesis' work, which will be supervised by two professors, one for each university.
